Giovanni Seppia joins ICANN as Vice President of Implementation Operations
Giovanni Seppia to Join ICANN in Newly Created Role

A little more than a year ago, we took an important step to strengthen our structure and enhance collaboration. This included forming an Implementation Operations department, responsible for the implementation of Board-approved recommendations from review teams and cross-community working groups through collaborative and efficient planning and delivery.

Today I am pleased to announce that Giovanni Seppia will be joining ICANN organization to oversee this team in the newly created role of Vice President, Implementation Operations. He will report to me.

Giovanni brings a unique and well-rounded set of skills to this important position. He has a solid operational and planning background that includes developing short-term and long-term operating plans and budgets, as well as a deep understanding of ICANN, its community, and the domain name industry ecosystem. Giovanni has also regularly engaged with various European Union (EU) governmental organizations, and he is involved with academic institutions in Italy as a teacher and lecturer on topics such as project management, and European Union policies and programs.

Giovanni is known to many through his work within the ICANN community including chairing working groups and committees, and as chair of the Council of European National Top-Level Domain Registries (CENTR) Board. Giovanni also served as ICANN's European Liaison Manager from January 2006 until May 2007.

Giovanni currently serves as the External Relations Manager for EURid, a registry operator based in Brussels, Belgium. He will join ICANN org in January 2022.

Reviews are important accountability mechanisms required by ICANN's Bylaws and critical to maintaining a healthy multistakeholder model. I am confident that Giovanni will be an outstanding addition to the team and provide the leadership we need to further streamline and implement reviews recommendations in a consistent, reliable, and predictable manner.

We look forward to Giovanni joining the team and providing you with updates on our continued progress.
