While ICANN 52 is packed with plenty of informative sessions to keep you occupied, we do recommend carving out some free time to explore the sights, sounds and tastes of this dynamic city. And we’re not the only ones who think Singapore has plenty to offer the curious tourist or adventurous eater. The venerable New York Times recently listed Singapore as one of the top places to visit in 2015.

With that accolade, our hardworking staff at the ICANN APAC office complied this Top Ten Singapore list to help guide you through the many culinary and tourist activities the city has to offer.

  1. Explore Chinatown. It’s the Lunar New Year and Chinatown is the perfect location to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the festivities.
  2. Ascend 57 stories to the Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck. Once there, you’ll be treated to the stunning sight of Singapore’s skyline and its famed infinity pool in the sky.
  3. Waltz along Orchard Road, the most well known shopping belt in Singapore.
  4. Enjoy a leisurely drink along the Singapore River at Boat or Clarke Quay.
  5. Visit Singapore’s National Museums and public spaces. 2015 is Singapore’s 50th birthday and the nation is preparing for a yearlong birthday bash to commemorate its Golden Jubilee.
  6. Watch a local play/concert or enjoy a free one at the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay.
  7. Try ice kacang, a local dessert made from shaved ice, red beans, colorful syrups and evaporated milk. Perfect on a hot day!
  8. Learn [PDF, 3.86 MB] how to order traditional coffee like a pro.
  9. You’ve probably tried Chilli Crabs but have you tried Chicken Rice? It’s considered one of Singapore’s national dishes and CNN heralds it as one of the "Singapore Foods we can’t live without."
  10. Can’t sleep and gripped by the need for a late night trip to the mall? Shop at Mustafa Centre, a 24-hour shopper’s paradise.
