ICANN Releases Full Schedule for Asia Pacific DNS Forum 2023

8 June 2023

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation today announced the schedule for the Asia Pacific (APAC) Domain Name System (DNS) Forum 2023.

Details of the hybrid event, to be held in Hong Kong from 4–5 July, are available on the event website. Information provided include a comprehensive list of speakers, session descriptions, networking opportunities, as well as travel-related information to get ready for the APAC DNS Forum.

Two renowned industry experts, Professor Li Xing and John Crain, will deliver keynote speeches addressing the outlook, evolution, and future of the DNS industry. Professor Li is a Chinese Internet pioneer who was instrumental in the development of the Internet in China. Additional information about him can be found on the APAC DNS Forum website. John Crain serves as ICANN's Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. His bio is available on the ICANN website.

The forum features plenary discussions on emerging technologies and their impact on the DNS. The future of the digital economy and the role of governments are other crucial industry issues to be addressed on the first day of the event. Other notable hot topics such as cybersecurity and mitigating DNS abuse will also be discussed over the two days.

To prepare community members to discuss the topics of interest at the APAC DNS Forum, four pre-event webinars will be held before the event. They will take place between 20–27 June. Details are available on the APAC DNS Forum website.

Registration is required for both in-person and virtual participation. The one-time registration will grant access to all forum sessions and pre-event webinars. Register for the forum before the closing date on 2 July.

All sessions will be conducted in English and during working hours in Hong Kong (UTC+8). Participants attending the forum in-person are advised to review the travel safety guidelines for Hong Kong from your country's government, or a reputable source like the Hong Kong government.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
