ICANN Announces New Staff Appointments in IANA

ICANN is pleased to announce the following new staff appointments:

General Manager IANA

David Conrad joins ICANN as General Manager IANA.

David's most recent role has been CTO for Nominum, the Internet name and address solutions provider and an organization he founded in 2000. He is well known to the ICANN community and staff as a member of the ICANN root server system advisory committee, a position he has held since 2000.

Previously David was a member of the Board of Trustees for ARIN and he was a founder and first Director General of APNIC.

Prior to founding Nominum David was the President and CEO of Internet Engines Inc, a company he also founded in 1999 to provide products and services for Internet Software Consortium (ISC) software. He was an Executive Director of ISC between 1998 and 2000. David has been an executive committee member of the APRICOT conference since being involved in its formation in1996 and a participant in the IETF since 1992.

In his earlier career David was involved in establishing IP network connectivity and ISP's in Japan and the Asia Pacific.

David brings a wealth of experience in Internet technologies which will be invaluable to ICANN and the IANA function. He holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.

IANA Technical Liaison

Kim Davies joins ICANN as IANA Technical Liaison.

Kim's most recent role was as Technical Policy Advisor to CENTR, the Council of European National TLD Registries and a position he has held since 2002. His role on the CENTR secretariat and representation of European country code managers in international fora brings additional knowledge and expertise to ICANN as ICANN continues to strengthen its service to IANA customers, particularly TLD managers. Kim's appointment continues to show ICANN's commitment to serving a global Internet community.

Prior to his appointment at CENTR Kim held a number of appointments concerned with Domain and ISP management, including as Head of Web Services for Iinet, an Internet Access company. Kim was also the Principal of Cynosure Innovation, a cyber consulting business.
