Santiago Meeting Details

August 24-26, 1999

ICANN held a series of meetings in Santiago, Chile, on August 24-26, 1999. Any interested person was welcome to attend and participate; most meetings were broadcast live over the Internet, with remote participants able to submit comments and questions in real time. This page contains pre-meeting information and details about the agenda, documents for public comment, remote participation, etc. For a list of the resolutions adopted by the ICANN Board in Santiago, click here. HOST COMMITTEE WEB SITE

The local Host Committee, chaired by Florencio Utreras, has prepared a web site with full details relating to meeting venues, lodging options, and meeting schedules.

ICANN is grateful to Sr. Utreras and the Host Committee for volunteering their time to organize these meetings; and to the College of Economic Sciences, University of Chile in Santiago, Chile, for donating the use of its auditorium and meeting rooms.

HOTEL INFORMATION

The ICANN meetings will be held primarily at the College of Economic Sciences, University of Chile in Santiago, Chile, with some meetings held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. ICANN has reserved a block of rooms at this hotel to be used by the Internet community. When reserving a room with the Crowne Plaza, please be sure to mention that you are attending the ICANN meetings in order to receive the discounted room rate. We suggest you make reservations as soon as possible as these rooms will be filled quickly. Information on this hotel, including phone numbers to make your reservation can be found below. Further details, including a list of several alternate nearby (and less expensive) hotels with rooms available, can be obtained by visiting the local Host Committee's hotel page.

    • Proposed Interim Policy for Geographic Diversity on the ICANN Board (Posted for public comment)
    • Since the issue has recieved some discussion in connection with earlier proposed bylaw amendments, comment is invited concerning whether or not a conforming change of the word "citizens" to "residents" should be made in Article VI-B, Section 3(c) of the Bylaws concerning geographic diversity on Names Council
