Información de registración

Una entidad física o jurídica que desea registrar un nombre de dominio bajo un dominio genérico de alto nivel ("gTLD") (http://www.icann.org/en/resources/registries/listing) puede hacerlo utilizando un registrador acreditado por la ICANN. Existen varios cientos de registradores acreditados ubicados en todo el mundo, los cuales brindan apoyo en los idiomas locales. La relación entre el registratario de nombres de dominio y el registrador acreditado por la ICANN se regirá por el Acuerdo de Registro entre ambas partes.

Acerca del registrador acreditado por la ICANN

A cualquier entidad que desee ofrecer servicios de registración de nombres de dominio bajo los gTLD existentes, con un acceso directo a los registros de gTLD, se le exige obtener una acreditación por parte de la ICANN. A tal fin, la entidad interesada deberá solicitar la acreditación y demostrar que cumple con todos los criterios técnicos, operativos y financieros necesarios para calificar como un negocio de registrador. La relación entre la ICANN y cada registrador acreditado se rige por el Acuerdo de Acreditación de Registradores (RAA), el cual establece las obligaciones de ambas partes.

Qué hacemos

La organización de la ICANN proporciona a los operadores de registro, registradores, registratarios y al público en general información y apoyo general en relación con los operadores de registro de gTLD y los registradores acreditados por la ICANN, así como el RAA de la ICANN.

Al servicio de los operadores de registro de gTLD y de los registradores acreditados por la ICANN, el equipo de Cuentas y Servicios de la GDD también ayuda a los posibles registradores a preparar y revisar sus solicitudes de acreditación, así como a mantener las acreditaciones de registrador y a garantizar el cumplimiento de las obligaciones del RAA por parte del registrador.

La acreditación de la ICANN solo se aplica a los gTLD. Cualquier persona física o jurídica que desee obtener información sobre la registración o la acreditación bajo un dominio de alto nivel con código de país debe ponerse en contacto con el operador de registro correspondiente.

Domain Name System
Internationalized Domain Name ,IDN,"IDNs are domain names that include characters used in the local representation of languages that are not written with the twenty-six letters of the basic Latin alphabet ""a-z"". An IDN can contain Latin letters with diacritical marks, as required by many European languages, or may consist of characters from non-Latin scripts such as Arabic or Chinese. Many languages also use other types of digits than the European ""0-9"". The basic Latin alphabet together with the European-Arabic digits are, for the purpose of domain names, termed ""ASCII characters"" (ASCII = American Standard Code for Information Interchange). These are also included in the broader range of ""Unicode characters"" that provides the basis for IDNs. The ""hostname rule"" requires that all domain names of the type under consideration here are stored in the DNS using only the ASCII characters listed above, with the one further addition of the hyphen ""-"". The Unicode form of an IDN therefore requires special encoding before it is entered into the DNS. The following terminology is used when distinguishing between these forms: A domain name consists of a series of ""labels"" (separated by ""dots""). The ASCII form of an IDN label is termed an ""A-label"". All operations defined in the DNS protocol use A-labels exclusively. The Unicode form, which a user expects to be displayed, is termed a ""U-label"". The difference may be illustrated with the Hindi word for ""test"" — परीका — appearing here as a U-label would (in the Devanagari script). A special form of ""ASCII compatible encoding"" (abbreviated ACE) is applied to this to produce the corresponding A-label: xn--11b5bs1di. A domain name that only includes ASCII letters, digits, and hyphens is termed an ""LDH label"". Although the definitions of A-labels and LDH-labels overlap, a name consisting exclusively of LDH labels, such as""icann.org"" is not an IDN."
