Key Information

  • The IFR does not replace the work of the Customer Standing Committee (CSC), which reviews PTI's performance of the naming function on a monthly basis to ensure that PTI delivers on the Service Level Agreements specified in the IANA Naming Function Contract.
  • The full scope of the review is available in Section 18 of the ICANN Bylaws.
  • Periodic updates on the progress of the review will be made available on https://www.icann.org and at ICANN Public Meetings.

About Reviews

Reviews are mandated by the ICANN Bylaws and are crucial to the legitimacy and accountability of ICANN. Reviews serve as ICANN's progress report to the world; they demonstrate how ICANN delivers on its commitments and identifies areas where ICANN can improve. Specific Reviews are conducted by members of the stakeholder community who look at past processes, actions, and outcomes in order to make recommendations to improve future performance.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
