ICANN Releases its Final Africa Strategic Plan

20 October 2018

ISTANBUL – 20 October 2018 – ICANN's Africa Strategy is the cornerstone of all engagement efforts in the continent. Prepared by the regional ICANN community, it serves as a road map for ICANN's Global Stakeholder Engagement (GSE) Africa team.

Two reviews were held since the adoption of the Strategy to ensure that it was in line with the changing needs and circumstances of the African community. After a third review process that started in May 2018, the final strategy document ICANN Africa Strategy Ver 3.0 2016 – 2020 is now available, following a public comment period. You can view the final document here [PDF, 694 KB].

The Strategy will be discussed during the "Engagement in Africa" session on 23 October at ICANN63.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
