Did you ever wonder what it would be like to volunteer for a GNSO Working Group? Do you have questions you never dared ask about Adobe Connect or other participation tools that are used to facilitate Working Group deliberations? Did you ever get lost in the sea of acronyms? The GNSO Newcomer Open House session is the place to look for answers to these and any other questions you may have in relation to GNSO policy development activities and working groups.

After our first trial year, we are pleased to announce that the Newcomer Open House sessions will continue in 2015 with a number of improvements that are aimed at increasing participation, offering a more flexible agenda and encouraging further interaction during the sessions with the Community hosts and GNSO Policy Staff that are supporting these sessions.

Moving forward the webinars will take place three times per year to avoid over burdening community members and attendees. The sessions will be announced in a new format using a Google RSVP form allowing participants to identify questions and topics beforehand which will allow for tailor made sessions based on attendee requirements and feedback. Participants will be able to select items of interest chosen from three currently available categories:

  1. Policy Development A-Z
  2. Communication tools (Adobe Connect room, working group wiki, mailing list, observer/ member status)
  3. Hot Topics (Specific speakers to be invited for quick briefs).

Each category will contain a number of suggested items of discussion to which attendees can also add their own ideas and suggestions.

Of course, even though the open house sessions are specifically intended for newcomers, anyone interested in brushing up their knowledge or looking for an opportunity to engage with others interested in GNSO policy development activities are welcome.

We look forward to your participation in the upcoming sessions scheduled for:

12 March 2015,
04 June 2015,
24 September 2015
