LOS ANGELES – 6 December 2019 – The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) today announced that Mandy (Kathryn A.) Carver has been appointed to the position of Senior Vice President, Government & Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) Engagement. She reports to Göran Marby, ICANN President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Carver, an experienced international consensus-builder with deep roots in multistakeholder processes, succeeds the late Dr. Tarek Kamel who passed away in October 2019. She served as Dr. Kamel's deputy for the past six years.
"While Tarek's passing left a great void, I'm confident that Mandy is the right person to take our government engagement efforts forward," said Marby. "Mandy brings 30 years of extensive political experience and large-scale international program leadership to this position, including 13 years of global engagement work at ICANN."
Carver will lead the Government & IGO Engagement function that identifies and works to address the opportunities and risks governments and IGOs pose to ICANN's mission. "I am honored and delighted to have this opportunity," said Carver. "I look forward to working with my colleagues and stakeholders to promote our government relations and encourage government and IGO participation in the multistakeholder model."
Prior to joining ICANN org, Carver led several international programs that worked across sectors and communities to solve problems and deliver services. She was the Executive Director of the Concord Project, an international research and action group. At John Snow Inc., she was the Senior Consultant for the Ryan White Care Act Technical Services contract, where she deployed 300 consultants to assist communities determining how to allocate funds to combat HIV/AIDS. As the Director of Patient Advocacy for the National Marrow Donor Program, she developed patient protection policies for a network of 77 transplant centers and 104 donor centers worldwide.
Carver is based out of ICANN org's Los Angeles office.
