Media Advisory: Watch ICANN Board Meeting Live - Key Decisions Being Made

29 March 2007

People from around the world can watch the ICANN Board meeting in Lisbon live on Friday 30 March 2007. One of the main topics being discussed — and decided — during the board meeting will be the proposed creation of a .xxx Sponsored Top Level Domain (sTLD). Also, in what is an historic first, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Dr. Hamadoun Touré, will address the meeting at 8:30 a.m. Western European Summer Time (GMT+1).

ICANN has built a public participation website so the global Internet community can be fully involved in its public meetings.

Webcasting, chatrooms, and the ability to ask questions to speakers are all available. This is a key part of ICANN's commitment to be more transparent and accessible. It also allows journalists worldwide to watch and report on the proceedings in real time.

After Dr Touré’s address, the board meeting begins at 9 a.m. Western European Summer Time (GMT+1).

The complete schedule for ICANN's Lisbon meeting, as well as links to webcast sessions and our public participation website, can be found at: http://www.icann.org/meetings/lisbon/
