ICANN Opens Public Comments on Proposal from the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) to Become a UDRP Provider

ICANN has received a proposal and expression of interest from the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) to be recognized as one of the official dispute resolution providers under the UDRP. The basis for this proposal was statement on the ICANN website which notes that ICANN would consider statements from interested parties. See http://www.icann.org/udrp/.

The CAC is a non profit organization with its seat in Prague. It was established in 1949 and has developed its competencies to include the resolution of domestic and international disputes in relation to Intellectual property and technology matters. The CAC is attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic. Since 2005, the CAC is the provider of ADR to Eurid and the European Commission.

The proposal as outlined below by the CAC has several innovative features that could prove beneficial to registrants.

The Board at a meeting of the 25th of April directed staff to publish the proposal by the Czech Arbitration Court for public comment for a period of not less than 30 days.
