In order to provide additional time for candidates to apply, ICANN's 2010 Nominating Committee (NomCom) has extended the deadline for Statements of Interest until 15 April 2010 23:59 UTC. The 2010 NomCom is actively seeking qualified candidates for the following key positions within ICANN:

  • Three members of the Board of Directors of ICANN
  • Two At Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) representatives (one each from the European and North American regions)
  • One member of the Council of the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO)
  • One member of the Council of the Country-Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO)

The 2010 NomCom has received 48 Statements of Interest. 11 candidates are from Europe, 12 from Asia/Pacific, 5 from Latin America, 13 from North America, and 7 from Africa.

29 candidates are primarily interested to serve on the ICANN Board, 9 to serve on the GNSO Council, 4 to serve on the ccNSO Council, and 6 to serve on the ALAC. Some candidates have asked to be considered for more than one position.

Individuals selected by the NomCom will have a unique opportunity to work with accomplished colleagues from around the globe, address intriguing technical coordination problems and related policy development challenges with diverse functional, cultural, and geographic dimensions, and gain valuable insights and experience from working across these boundaries of knowledge, responsibility and perspective.

The 2010 NomCom began its work in October 2010 at the ICANN Annual Meeting in Seoul, South Korea, and has since then organized outreach events in multiple locations in Malaysia, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Spain, Switzerland, Brazil and Kenya, in addition to individual outreach activities performed by its members globally. The NomCom holds monthly conference calls to plan and follow-up its work.

Statements of Interest for the positions described above can be submitted through an on-line application form at http://forms.icann.org/cgi/soi.cgi or by contacting nomcom2010@icann.org.

More information regarding the Nominating Committee can be found at http://nomcom.icann.org/.
