ICANN Opens Public Comments on Revised Proposal from the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) to Become a UDRP Provider

12 November 2007

ICANN has received a revised proposal from the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) to be recognized as one of the official dispute resolution providers under the UDRP.

Background to Posting

The initial CAC application was posted on the ICANN website by ICANN Board direction for a thirty day public comment period .

The proposal was posted on the ICANN website on 25 May 2007 and the public comment period was open for a period which officially closed on 25 June 2007.

During that period comments were received, and these comments are accessible on the ICANN website. Following the public comment period and during ICANN’s Meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, additional discussion occurred and the ICANN Generic Names Supporting Organization’s Intellectual Property Constituency presented questions to CAC.

Since that time, CAC has reviewed the comments made and those made by comments the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and has recently presented ICANN Staff with redrafted materials attempting to respond to those comments, as well as other comments made in various forums.

It has been decided in mutual agreement with CAC to post the revised proposal and relevant annexures including those not previously posted (but provided to ICANN staff) on the grounds of confidentiality, for a period of twenty one (21) days.

The revised proposal and relevant annexures are attached below. It should be noted that the CAC internal procedures document is not finalized and is in draft form.

Those wishing to comment are encouraged to do so and to make their comments not later than 2 December 2007.

Comments may be submitted by email to cac-proposal@icann.org and may be viewed at http://forum.icann.org/lists/cac-proposal/.
