This is an update on the 2008 ICANN Nominating Committee.

The nomination period closed on 15 April 2008. Since then, the Nom Com has been working with its assessment provider, Ray & Berndtson, to review statements of interest, candidate information, and assess candidates based on the job descriptions developed in consultation with the Board, ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO. The Nom Com has conducted four conference calls since 15 April in order to extensively review candidate information and refine its selection processes for the 2008 Nom Com cycle.

The Nom Com will select:

  • 2 seats on the ICANN Board of Directors
  • 2 members of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) (from the European and North American regions)
  • 1 Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) Council member
  • 1 Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council member

The Nom Com will conduct a face-to-face meeting in Paris following the end of the ICANN meeting, from 26-28 June 2008. During the ICANN meeting, Nom Com members will be considering the needs of the Board, ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO, reviewing submitted materials, and may be talking to candidates and references as the Committee works toward selection of candidates for the six available seats.

Final selections will be confirmed six weeks after the ICANN Paris meeting. Following the selection of candidates, the Nom Com will conduct due diligence. The selections will be announced by early September 2008.
