Sylvia Herlein Leite

Sylvia Herlein has been named as a member of ALAC, At-Large Advisory Committee Latin America & Caribbean at the 1st Summit of the At-large organizations that took place in Mexico 2009, with over 70% of the votes of the representatives from the region.

Sylvia brings the experience and knowledge of countries with Spanish and Portuguese-speaking and the ability to facilitate consensus building with the Internet community in Latin America, from her work as an active member of LACRALO (At-Large Regional Organization Latin American and Caribbean).

The positions in which Sylvia serves on a voluntary basis include being a founding member and Chief Financial Officer and International Affairs of Internauta Brasil, Association of Internet Users in Brazil since 2005. www.internautabrasil.org Internauta Brasil is an organization that strives for inclusion of the Brazilians, holding training courses on ICT, Information and Communication Technologies and call centers for disadvantaged communities, with its core audience aged working adults and the elderly. These activities are especially focused on the Participation of Civil Society in the Information Society and how this participation can be improved. The volunteer members of Internauta Brasil firmly believed that the use of the internet as a right of all members of civil society regardless of their economic and social condition and is on that basis that does all their work.

Sylvia has been also working voluntarily as executive secretary in NEXTI, Organization of the IT executive women in Brazil; http://executivasdeti.blogspot.com/, since 2009. She has been also secretary of FLUI, Federation of Latin American Internet users since 2007, www.fuilatin.org (in training).

Sylvia works as a linguistic and business consultant in her own company, Pronto! Consultoria Linguística, www.prontocl.com.br, advising MERCOSUR companies on issues of franchises and cultural idiosyncrasies to install them in other countries in the region. Sylvia is also a teacher and translator of Spanish-Portuguese.

The academic background includes a Bachelor in Tourism and Spanish-Portuguese translator by the Cervantes Institute of Spain.

She is a citizen of Argentina and Brazil.
