Raimundo Beca is currently a partner at Imaginacción, a Chilean consulting company, and is on the board of several major companies, among them Puerto San Vicente Talcahuano, where he is vice chairman of the board, and Armamater, a company that trains, employs and places only disabled people.

Before joining Imaginacción in 2003, he served for 11 years as the CRO of Telefónica CTC Chile, the Chilean incumbent telephone company. During his tenure at CTC, the company became a leader in the long distance, mobile, data networks and ISP markets.

Before joining Telefónica CTC Chile in 1992, Raimundo was for two years a regional expert in information technologies at ECLAC, the UN’s regional economic agency for Latin America and the Caribbean. At ECLAC, he drafted a Green Book on information technology policies, including a decalogue on telecommunications privatization best practices and an ambitious target of a 20% penetration of telephone premises in the region by 2000.

Before joining ECLAC, he was for 13 years Chargé de Mission at the French Ministry of Industry, in charge of the development of a national on line data industry, among other initiatives. As a French delegate to the OCDE and the European Commission, he was also involved in the early international debate on the information society in the late 1970s. To this extent, Raimundo was largely involved in the enactment of the first rulings in the fields of data privacy, data security, access to public files and software intellectual property rights.

Before joining the French Ministry of Industry, Raimundo was researcher and professor of econometrics at the University of Chile, CEO of ECOM, the largest software house and data processing company in Chile in the early 1970s, and ingénieur en chef at SERTI, a top level French software house.

Raimundo was born in Chile in 1940. He holds a Civil Engineer degree from the Catholic University of Chile and a masters degree in mathematical economics from the University of Paris IV, Pierre et Marie Curie.

Before being appointed to the ICANN Board, Raimundo was a member of the ASO Address Council, appointed first by ARIN and then by LACNIC, a member of the Steering Committee of NIC Chile and a Board Director of LACNIC.

Raimundo Beca was appointed to the ICANN Board by the Address Supporting Organization. While on the ICANN Board, Raimundo served on the Finance Committee, as a Chair of the Audit Committee, and on the GAC Joint Working Group and the President’s Strategy Committee. Raimundo was originally elected to a three-year term beginning in 2004. He was re-elected in 2007 to a second term. His three-year term ended in April 2010.
