Doug Barton

Doug Barton joined ICANN's staff as General Manager of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) in December of 2003. He brings a wide variety of experience to this position, having most recently spent the last 5 years at Yahoo! Inc. as their DNS Administrator. At Yahoo! Doug was responsible for all of their DNS operations worldwide, including authoritative DNS, customer DNS for their reseller operation, and assisting with domain branding, strategy, and policy.

In addition to his professional experience, Doug is a strong believer in the usefulness of open source software. He donates his time as a FreeBSD project developer. Doug was also a charter member of ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee.

Doug was first exposed to the internet in 1994, and his interest in computers dates back to the early 1980's.
